The B&G Type 1 hydraulic ram on our autopilot failed last year. I did not want to install another B&G RAM in the event that I have to replace any other of the components in the near future. Any other failures and I would have gone totally with the RayMarine autopilot system. I purchased a RayMarine T2 Short linear RAM (M81131) and installed it this fall on our return to the boat in Grenada. Thanks to Al Butzer for taking some measurements and pictures of his installation and to Norm Pierce for some sage advise.
